Fiji isn’t just about white-sand beaches and turquoise waters—it’s also a paradise for golfers. With courses that cater to all skill levels and preferences, Fiji offers everything from exclusive island escapes to lush, resort-style layouts. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a seasoned player, the golfing experience here is as diverse as the islands themselves.
Among the standout courses are:
In this blog, we dive into what makes Natadola Bay so special—and whether it truly is the best golf course in Fiji.
Located just 45 minutes from Nadi International Airport, Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course combines professional-level design with postcard-perfect surroundings. Designed by Fijian golfing legend and former world number one Vijay Singh, the course blends seamlessly into its coastal environment, delivering a unique experience for golfers of all backgrounds and abilities.
Whether you’re a scratch golfer or picking up a club for the first time, this course offers a round you’ll remember.
Natadola Bay is carved into Fiji’s rugged Coral Coast, with several holes perched right on the edge of the Pacific Ocean. Expect dramatic elevation changes, wind-swept fairways, and stunning visuals from tee to green. The course layout embraces the land’s natural contours, offering varied play that keeps each hole exciting.
The up-and-down terrain is a standout feature, with tee boxes and greens placed at different heights for a dynamic round. The wind plays a major role here too—bringing both headwinds and tailwinds that demand strategy and flexibility. It’s not an easy round, but it’s a fair one.
Opened in 2009, the 18-hole, par-72 layout stretches more than 6,500 metres. Singh’s vision was clear: challenge professionals while ensuring amateurs enjoy the journey. With rolling greens, well-placed bunkers, and wide but strategic fairways, the course delivers on every front.
Even the opening hole sets the tone. It may look simple from the tee, but the downhill angle and crosswind quickly reveal the challenge. Bunkers on both sides of the fairway and green reward accuracy early. It’s a great hole to set the pace for your round.
Often described as the most scenic hole on the course, this 160+ metre par 3 is breathtaking. The beach acts as a bunker down the left, and the ocean looms behind the green. Club selection is key—what would normally be a 6-iron might become an 8 thanks to the wind. Between the views and the hazard-laced layout, it perfectly captures the essence of golf in Fiji.
This par 5 opens with one of the best tee box views in the Pacific. Positioned high on a cliff, it tempts longer hitters to cut the corner and reach in two. But beware—the wind can be brutal. My tee shot went OB, and I was “three from the tee” into a fairway bunker. The hole’s not long, though—keep it in play, and a birdie is definitely possible.
At just 128 metres, this elevated par 3 should be a scoring hole. But with a strong downwind and a tightly guarded green, distance control is crucial. I hit a 56-degree wedge and still went long—proof that the elements can really change your club selection.
This 494-metre par 5 is relatively straight with a wide fairway and some light contouring. Add a tailwind and you’ve got the recipe for some big drives. I smashed my best of the day here—an estimated 400 metres—and still managed to three-putt for par. Go figure.
Framed by the iconic clubhouse, this uphill par 4 is a beautiful and challenging closing hole. Bunkers and hazards guard the fairway and green, while a right-to-left wind requires careful alignment. The elevated green provides a dramatic finish to an unforgettable round.
Natadola Bay doesn’t just impress on the course. The clubhouse, perched on a hill with sweeping views, includes a fully stocked pro shop, clean and modern locker rooms, and a restaurant serving up a blend of local and international cuisine—perfect for a post-round meal.
The Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course is more than just a place to play—it’s a full golf destination that highlights the best of what Fiji has to offer. Stunning views, a thoughtful and challenging design, and warm, welcoming service make this a must-play for anyone visiting the islands.
Is it the best golf course in Fiji? I’ve played every course—except COMO Laucala—so I can’t say with 100% certainty. But stay tuned… our next trip might just include that elusive round, and we’ll be sure to report back.
If you’re planning a golf holiday in Fiji or just looking to squeeze in a round during your stay, make sure Natadola Bay is on your itinerary. Trust me—once you’ve played here, you’ll be dreaming about it long after the 18th hole.
