Stay at Wharewaka Lodge and be assured of a warm welcome from your hosts Susan and Tony and resident cat Sam.
We are retired farmers who are well travelled and very interested in other people, their countries and culture.
Wharewaka Lodge is a contemporary home built in 2003, located on the lake edge 7 kms from the CBD with direct access to a good swimming beach.
It has superior rooms with ensuite, tiled bathroom, bath & shower, hair dryer, toiletries, sitting area, balcony, TV, fridge, radio, tea/coffee making and cotton bed linen.
There is a comfortable sitting room for guests with open fire & Sky TV.
Breakfast may be served indoors, on the terrace or garden courtyard.
We like to meet with our guests before dining and enjoy a glass of wine, maybe in front of a wood open fire in the winter or perhaps outdoors on the terrace in the Summer months. Activities nearby include swimming, walking, 3 golf courses, (1 international) fly fishing for Taupo’s world-famous trout, boat/fishing trips, bungy, skydiving, hot mineral pools and spa, thermal areas, horse trekking, parasailing, water sports, scenic flights. Seven km to C B D, shopping and excellent restaurants.
Situated in the centre of North Island, Taupo is well located to be able to visit many activities in the region by the day.
These include the Tongariro World Heritage Park and renowned Tongariro Crossing, winter snow skiing, bush walking and mountain hiking, visits to Rotorua, Waitomo Caves, Hawkes Bay for the Art Deco architecture of Hastings and Napier and a premier wine growing region.
