30 minutes drive south of Hokitika en route to Franz Josef Glacier, Paramata Lodge is sophisticated and spacious, with elegant handcrafted contemporary style, artworks, sculptural garden, library and piano. Three beautiful guest bed rooms with superking/king size beds, large ensuites, deep bath and several decks, this is boutique accommocation at its best.
Located in a natural paradise with forest, waterways and beach providing diverse wildlife adventures right beside the lodge. Ask us about guided walks, bird tour, farm or kayak tour, heli flght, the new cycle trail or NZ fly fishing. There’s more too, so you’ll need several days. Hosted by two well informed New Zealanders, Kathy heads two conservation organisations while Neil is the artist, with a deep respect for nature they will show you their sustainable wilderness lifestyle beside rare old growth forest. All three guest rooms are positioned for sun and mountain to sea views with spacious ensuites and naturally blended décor. Sink into the deep ensuite bath designed for stargazing at the Southern Hemisphere sky or watch the Pukeko feed their young from your bedroom window.
In the morning, whether it’s mist sneaking around the hills or massive breakers exploding onto the beach, the guestroom views are like personalised shows. You’ll want to linger and watch, but fresh coffee and baked bread aromas drift from the kitchen.
Breakfast and dinner are served in the dining area where the large bifold doors open out onto a deck taking in the natural scene. While breakfast is cooking, the open plan kitchen enables you to observe and talk with Kathy as she works.
