This private high-country station features a unique stone cottage, built in 1865 by pioneering goldminers. Home to Lizzie, a mail order bride who travelled from England to marry the goldminer, sight unseen. Here she remained, living off the land and raising a family of eight. Our guests will enjoy going back in time, hearing stories of the pioneering days from our resident ‘Goldminer’s Wife’ and fabulous yarns of today’s farming techniques in this remote area from the local farmer and his dog Honey. The idyllic setting on a high-country plateau in the valley offers unobstructed views, with no other buildings in sight. Short walks, hot tubs, massages, clay shooting, long lunches are just some of the ways to spend an afternoon here. Great for families and we can show kids how to chop wood, start a campfire, trap a possum, fire an air rifle -a learning experience away from the digital distractions of our daily lives. Switch off, unplug and slow down. With helicopter access only, the possibilities are limitless.
