Bay of Islands Hike n Hop Charter
4.5 Hours
9am – 1.30pm
  • Departing Paihia/Russell, take a scenic cruise along the Tapeka coastline and into the islands
  • Our first stopover at the Twin Lagoons scenic reserve on Motuarohia (Roberton Island) is a 20 minute walk to the island lookout point
  • Stepping back on board our vessel, continue cruising towards Frenchman’s Cove on the southern side of Moturua Island.
  • From here, do the 1.5 hour “half circuit” around the island to finish at Army Bay on the northern side where our skipper and vessel will be waiting.
  • At Army Bay, you can take the opportunity to swim, snorkel, paddle board and enjoy beachside lunch
  • After lunch, sit back and relax as you cruise out to Otehei Bay on Urupukapuka Island
  • Otehei Bay has a few different loop tracks to choose from, and provide viewpoints over the Cape Brett Peninsular and the western area of the Bay of Islands, or guests can spend time exploring Otehei, and the Project Island Song Education Centre.
  • Once completing the walks at Urupukapuka, you will take a scenic cruise back through the islands to finish at Russell/Paihia
Along the way, the skipper will be providing commentary and information about the area, and answering any questions you may have.
Often we see marine wildlife if we are lucky! (Dolphins, Penguins etc…) and the islands are all pest free, wildlife sanctuaries which have been restored over the last 14 years by Project Island Song.
The walks on the islands themselves are self-guided (tracks are all very well marked) but if you’d like we can request a guide from Project Island Song.
