Huka Falls to Aratiatia loop…

This seventeen kilometer loop mountain bike trail has a variety of scenery including the famous Huka Falls, The Huka Prawn Park, and views of New Zealand’s first geothermal power station.

The trail follows the Waikato River to the Aratiatia Dam where we stop to view the opening of the control gates. After seeing the incredible Aratiatia rapids at full flow, where The Hobbit was filmed, the trail continues along the opposite side of the river, past a beautiful geothermal stream and back to base.

Ride is considered to be Grade 2-3 – not technically difficult or physically too demanding – especially on an E-bike, and generally relatively flat. It does however have plenty of points of interest along the way.
