The Lodge at Tikana, Southland, New Zealand
Nestled amongst fertile southern hills, The Lodge at Tikana offers our guests their own space to fully relax and unwind. Opened in 2003, Tikana caters for single party bookings. This is your home for as long as you wish to stay. Tikana means style in the Maori language. Style epitomes Tikana. It is an exclusive private retreat, a home away from home... The Lodge is yours and yours alone for your stay. And there is space to breathe, to while away the day curled up on the comfortable couch in front of the crackling log fire, with a fresh latte from the espresso machine. Books or DVD's are available from the library or you could just lie back and listen to the superb surround sound from the state-of-the-art entertainment centre. Heated flooring makes sure you are never cold and the juxtaposition of old rustic wood beside the polished rimu creates a contrast of cosiness and space.
The environmentally friendly straw bale construction of the Lodge takes away the sharp lines with curves adding to the feeling of comfort and warmth. The essence of nature is carried through the construction, with recycled timber mixing with raw timber, stone and steel. If you have been out all day seeing the sights, the tranquillity of The Lodge's setting will invade your soul on your return. You start to unwind without even thinking, lying in the duo bath looking out the bi-fold windows across the real New Zealand landscape, with a glass of fine wine from the wine cellar.
Facilities: 1 super-king ensuite bedroom, 1 double bedroom downstairs, double bath, double basin, hair dryer, toiletries, bidet and demist mirror in ensuite upstairs, Egyptian cotton bed linen, possum throw, bathrobes, underfloor heating throughout, kitchenette, wine cellar, classic NZ wines, phone, internet access and desk in Snug open fire, home theatre system, Sky TV, DVDs, CDs, laundry, wash and fold service, on-site parking, helipad.

What a truely wonderful place to stay - the food, the views, especially from my lavender oil bath this morning!! Seriously we could not have enjoyed it more. Thank you so much."
