Capella Lodge, Lord Howe Island, Australia

Accommodation Type: Lodge
Number of rooms: 9

Capella Lodge is Lord Howe luxury and Lord Howe Island's premium boutique accommodation. Commanding stunning ocean and mountain views the lodge affords a civilised, stylish and sophisticated escape. Capella's contemporary cuisine, first name service, relaxed sophistication and intimate surrounds combine to deliver a unique and exclusive Lord Howe Island experience. Lord Howe with luxe appeal. Capella Lodge perches above Lord Howe Island’s spectacular Lover’s Bay and its recent $2 million refurbishment has transformed the boutique Lodge into a luscious retreat that carries all the hallmarks of beachside living with luxe. The visual drama is compelling: a cascade of glass plunges dramatically from a skillion roof allowing Lord Howe’s signature subtropical forests, the towering twin peaks and the jewel-toned reef, to take centre stage. Capella Lodge’s contemporary style and streamlined luxury – interiors awash with muted colours with hints of modern tropical and mariner chic – is beautifully matched with exceptional dining and first name service.

A place of extraordinary contrasts, with rugged volcanic peaks, lush forests and serene lagoons, Lord Howe Island is encircled by the southern-most coral reef in the world and was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1982. A mere 280 people are lucky enough to call the Island home and to preserve Lord Howe’s unique and precious natural environment, visitor numbers are restricted, by law, to 400 at any one time. Lord Howe Island and its surrounding islets are the eroded remnants of a large shield volcano that erupted from the ocean floor some 7 million years ago. One of the Island’s icons, the majestic Ball’s Pyramid – the largest monolithic sea rock in the world - is part of the same undersea ridge called the Lord Howe Rise. At its southern end, is Lord Howe Island’s signature twin peaks the astonishing Mt Lidgbird and Mt Gower that rise 875 metres high. The World’s last paradise.

Facilities: The comfortable contemporary suites at Capella Lodge complement the serenity and pristine natural environment providing luxurious refuge. Interiors feature timber floors, white shutters, marine ply joinery and custom furniture pieces that provide a sophisticated beach house ambience. All suites feature King beds with superior cotton linen, pillow selection and offer CD player, TV, DVD, telephone and room bar. Ensuites feature a bath and oversized rain shower and premium toiletries. Beach towels, bathrobes and backpacks are provided along with daily housekeeping and a signature evening turndown service.
