If sport is more your thing, catch a game of cricket, Aussie Rules or rugby at one of the sporting stadiums. Jump on a ferry to South Perth to take that world-famous snap of Perth’s skyline. At night, it’s especially spectacular when the city’s glittering skyline is reflected in the Swan River.

Kings Park and Endless Beaches
Kings Park is magnificent; there are so many areas to explore with picnic and barbecue facilities and their own different scenery and moods. You can walk around these areas or drive a car around the 400ha of virgin bush land, manicured gardens and brilliant displays of wildflowers during spring. Within minutes of the city centre are Perth’s beaches. There are nineteen to choose from – some, such as Scarborough Beach are great for surfing, and others, like Cottesloe with its beachside cafes, are ideal for families.
The Pinnacles
Thousands of eerie limestone pillars, up to 4m tall form the Pinnacles Desert. The moonscape scenery is made by the pillars rising out of the stark desert landscape of yellow quartz sand. It is a favourite subject for photographers. The Pinnacles are two-hundred and forty-five kilometres north of Perth on the way to Geraldton. Closest main town is Cervantes. The Pinnacles are seventeen kilometres south east of the town. The Pinnacles are limestone formations. The raw material for the limestone of the Pinnacles came from seashells in an earlier epoch rich in marine life. These shells were broken down into lime rich sands which were carried inland to form high mobile dunes. The Pinnacles were formed from lime leaching from the sand and by rain cementing the lower levels of the dune into a soft limestone.
Freemantle
