Gold Coast

Gold Coast

One of the most beautiful areas in the world, the Gold Coast offers many things to see and do all within very close proximity to the city centre and is Australia’s leading tourist destination. The weather is perfect most of the year for most activities. Millions of visitors come here each year from around the world. We have great, championship golf courses, sandy beaches and lovely Hinterland for bush walking and sightseeing. There are also many fine restaurants catering for all tastes, great shopping, sporting and entertainment facilities. The Gold Coast has a magnificent backdrop of a vast mountainous region of national parks, subtropical rain forests, waterfalls, deep valleys and rolling plains just behind the Gold Coast. Mount Tamborine with its large residential area offers all the conveniences but is only a stone’s throw away from rain forest walks, gurgling creeks and waterfalls. The McPherson Ranges, which mark the Queensland/New South Wales border are home to Springbrook National Park and Lamington National Park. There are some 160kms of graded walking tracks where one can explore volcanic caves, rock pools, rain forest and scenic lookouts. The Hinterland offers a range of first class facilities and country style hospitality accompanied by some of the most beautiful flora and fauna found anywhere in Australia.

Spanning two local government areas – Gold Coast City and Tweed Shire Council – the population tops 455,000 in one of Australia’s fastest growing communities. The population is expected to tip 700,000 residents by 2021. Gold Coast City and Brisbane have been identified as one of the most desirable places in the world to live ranked on political, social, economic and environmental factors, personal safety and health. Indigenous tribes lived in the region for thousands of years – archeological remains and places of spiritual significance still remain in the 21st century. Australia’s Gold Coast weather packs a punch every day of the year, so it is not a matter of planning when, just planning how you’re going to fit in a timetable of fun. Formal seasons are less apparent with an average of 300 days of sunshine a year. Expect cooler temperatures in hinterland and rural areas year round, especially in winter. Nature unveils its glory every day with golden summers, clear-sky winters, crisp autumn hinterland mornings and vibrant, optimistic summers.

Scenic Highlights

Mount Tamborine

Tamborine Mountain is part of Australia’s famous Gold Coast, yet separate from it. The Gold Coast spreads out northwards along the coastal plain from the Queensland/NSW border for a distance of some 40 kilometers. Behind the coastal plain a series of hills and plateaus rise steeply to provide a green scenic rim framing the surf and sand to the east.

Gold Coast Beaches

Whether it’s for stroll at sunset, beach fishing at dusk, a leisurely swim, an adventure packed scuba dive or even if it’s to take on the swell with your board, the Gold Coast’s numerous beaches are famous for their clean, warm (23 degrees C in summer) blue waters, golden sand and never ending sunshine. The most popular of the 21 patrolled beaches on the Gold Coast include Main Beach, Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach, Mermaid Beach, Miami & Nobby Beach.

Gold Coast Ocean Way

The Oceanway is a 36 kilometre network of pathways along beaches from the Gold Coast Seaway (The Spit) to the Point Danger Lighthouse (Coolangatta). The Oceanway provides access to a wide range of coastal environments including spectacular coastal vistas, headlands, mangroves, dunes and Littoral Rainforest.
