Bienvenidos a la cocina! These classes will focus on the simple, rustic flavours that are making authentic Mexican cuisine New Zealand’s hottest food trend. A variety of staples will be featured including homemade tortillas, tamales and chilli rellenos made from Otahuna’s own chilli peppers – one of Jimmy’s signature dishes which features in Otahuna’s forthcoming book, For the Love of a Place: The stories and cuisine of Otahuna due September 2015.

Tariffs are $225 per person for each morning lesson and $275 per person for each afternoon/evening lesson and include: a welcome coffee and brief tour of the house, 90-minute cooking demonstration lesson, 4-course lunch or dinner with wine, recipes from all dishes prepared during the lesson, weather-permitting tour of the potager garden and orchard and GST. Guests who attend the afternoon/evening lessons are able to take advantage of a special rate for overnight accommodation of $550 per room inclusive of breakfast the following morning.
