Tora Coastal Walk: Located in the Southern Wairarapa, a scenic 2 hour drive from Wellington, this 3 day walk offers a range of diverse landscapes and 360o views. From rugged coastlines, native bush, and New Zealand countryside. The walk is owned and operated by local Kiwi families and cannot be done unless by prior arrangement, the team at Luxury Adventures can help you plan this. The 3 day walk is approximately 40 km long in total, split over three manageable day walks. Its undertaken in small groups which are kept to a maximum of 14 people, so as not to overcrowd the tracks or take away anything from the amazing views. The package includes accommodation for each night in comfortable rural properties, all food, using fresh local Kiwi produce. The Greenstone Valley Overnight Hiking Experience: With our partners Glacier Southern Lakes helicopters we are able to offer a unique overnight “get away from it all experience”. Stay in a purposely built hut in the Greenstone Valley, at the very top of Lake Wakatipu. The hut is accessible only by helicopter, which ensures you have a totally uninterrupted stay. This overnight experience includes one night accommodation in the hut, return helicopter flights from Queenstown, all meals, and a personally guided experience, either heli hiking or heli fly-fishing.
Craft Beer Tours Wellington: New Zealand and in particular Wellington City has a booming craft beer scene, with specialist bars, craft beer breweries, and bottle shops stocking specialist brews along with craft beer festivals. There are no shortage of local hot spots to satisfy even the most enthusiastic craft beer lover! Some of the better known breweries are Parrotdog, Tuatara & Garage Project. Luxury Adventures have access to local guides who can organise small group or private tours, visiting local breweries and well known and lesser known craft beer drinking hang outs. We can tailor tours combining craft beer with film scenes, with a visit to the famous Weta Workshops known for creating fantastic costumes for LOTR, Avator and many more films.
Guided Surfing Fiordland: New Zealand has some fantastic surf spots, from Ninety Mile Beach & Ahipara Beach at the top of the North Island, Piha Beach (a 40 minute drive from Auckland’s CBD), the cool surf town of Raglan on the West Coast with one of the few left hand breaks, to some of the most consistent surf at the beaches of Gisborne on the East Coast. None are as remote as the breaks in the Fiordland National Park, on the South Island. Luxury Adventures know local guides and can arrange a unique surfing adventure quite unlike any other. Surfing options on the trip include beaches to points breaks and river mouths. The adventure includes a scenic flight from Queenstown, overnight accommodation in safari style tents or a wilderness hut, all meals, and an experienced guide. You can also combine surfing with diving – dive for crayfish, fish for trout, hike in some of the most stunning countryside you will ever see. Paparoa Track and Pike29 Memorial Track: Luxury Adventures are excited to hear that New Zealand will soon have a new “Great walk“! The Paparoa Track is opening on 1 December 2019, and is located on the West Coast of the South Island. The track is purpose built for both hikers and mountain bikers, will be 55 km long and will take in stunning views of the Tasman Sea, and Southern Alps. Adventurers will travel through dramatic landscapes, native rain-forests, alpine peaks, as well as the site of what once was the Pike River Mine. The Paparoa Track is a commemoration to the 29 men who were killed at the mine in November 2010. The track is intended as a 2-3 day hike or 1-2 day ride, and has purpose built accommodation along the way.
Dive or Snorkel The Poor knights: The Poor Knights marine reserve is found 23 km off the Tutukaka Coastline, a 2 hour 45 minute drive from Auckland and a 1 hour 20 minute drive from Paihia (Bay of Islands). The Poor Knights was rated as one of the top ten dives in the world by Jacques Cousteau, which makes it a “must do” for any diver visiting New Zealand. The Poor Knights islands offers countless dive sites for divers at all levels, with underground caves, tunnels, wreck dives, see multitudes of fish, shellfish, coral gardens and stingrays. Luxury Adventures can help organise dives for the experienced and novice divers, there are also options for non divers to accompany divers and enjoy kayaking and snorkelling in the marine reserve.
