Gannet beach experience
Gannet beach experience in Napier, New Zealand

Gannet Beach Adventures, Hawke’s Bay

The cliffs of Cape Kidnappers in the Hawkes Bay have been home to a colony of gannets since 1870. Over 20,000 of these birds visit this area between September and April every year. They come to build their nests and birth their chicks, and stay until flying off to warmer climates for winter. There are a couple of tour options to see the gannet colonies. One pretty unique way is with Gannet Beach Adventures – visitors get to travel at low tide by tractor and tailor along the beach, and get close to the birds for great photograph opportunities. The tour allows time for a walk and swim in this beautiful area.
