Getting into the saddle is one of the best ways to get closer to nature and appreciate the pace and feel of the New Zealand countryside. Our international reputation for horse breeding extends to horses ideal for trekking - and operators the length of the country run half day, full day and longer guided treks on New Zealand's beaches, farms, forests, scrublands and high country.

Some notable sights and locations include; The highlands of the volcanic plateau in the central North Island, sandy beaches through out New Zealand, the tussock grasslands of the South Island's high country.

Horse Trekking in Queenstown: A breathtaking 2 day ride over the river flats across the Rees and Dart Rivers stopping for a picnic lunch. After lunch you'll ride along the Rees Valley, pass Diamond Lake to Paradise, the chosen location for Peter Jackson's epic "The Lord of the Rings" and several other movies including Willow, Virtual Limit….. and not to mention television commercials (even the Milka cow on the bar of chocolate is standing in Paradise)! Accommodation is provided in cosy wooden cabins set in Paradise's tranquil beech forest. A hearty evening meal will be prepared, whilst you have the opportunity to explore Paradise or just relax taking in its beauty and serenity. After a full breakfast the next day you'll make your way back to the Glenorchy, via the Dart Valley stopping en-route for lunch. All-in-all an unforgettable experience. Recommended for those with some riding experience and a reasonable level of fitness.

You will be matched with a horse that suits your riding experience and temperament, and if required instructors with teach you simple techniques to communicate with and control your mount, so you may enjoy each other's company as much as the glorious surroundings.
