The Top House, Taupo is a spectacular self contained holiday house looking out over Lake Taupo, and commanding breathtaking views of the lake and the mountains of the Central Plateau. It nestles into the bush at The Point, a private estate which still enjoys the unspoilt, peaceful environment that has always attracted visitors to the lake. The architectural award-winning Top house, designed by Fraser Cameron in 2002, is an airy, inviting home. Stone from the property, extensive use of kahikatea (white pine), and matai flooring that once graced the wool stores of neighbouring Hawke’s Bay enhance its distinctly New Zealand design and characteristics. Described by the NZIA judges as “…anchored to the land with its solid materials, texture and detail. All living rooms at The Top House have gorgeous views of Lake Taupo. They provide generous and elegant areas for entertaining, with the main living room leading out to decks both front and back of the house. In winter a fire can be lit to complement the heat pumps and add a welcome atmosphere. For those sports fanatics who would prefer to catch the “game” on satellite television they can still feel part of the gathering at the other end of the room, or retreat downstairs for a more concentrated viewing in the games room. Downstairs is a second, large living room which looks out over the bush to the lake. Children can spread out in the games room which features DVD player, satellite TV, stereo and billard table. In summer you may prefer to entertain outside.

The Top House is perfectly situated to take in the sights and activities of the central North Island. On The Point itself, guests can enjoy the two floodlit tennis courts, two boat ramps, excellent fly-fishing within 5 minute’s walk from The Top House (tutoring/guiding and local knowledge is available), bush walks and access to beaches, and a sheltered harbour providing excellent safe swimming for children. The popular modern Maori Rock Carvings are carved into the rock face on the western side of The Point. Drivers can use the golf cart to access areas around The Point.
