There is a choice of four beautifully appointed bedrooms, two deluxe superking rooms and two king rooms, each with king bed, walk-in wardrobe, large luggage storage, security safe, individual climate control and glorious mountain view. Matuka Luxury Lodge was designed to take advantage of its north facing aspect to get maximum benefit from the winter sun through passive solar heating. Very little sun enters the lodge during the summer and a breeze off the trout pond keeps the temperature pleasant all summer. Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park covers 70,000 hectares and stretches for 65km of the Southern Alps. It encompasses spectacular mountain scenery and New Zealand's longest glacier. At 3754 metres, Mt Cook is the highest mountain in Australasia and was first climbed in 1894. The heart of the Park was set aside as recreation reserve in 1887, and gazetted as a National Park in 1953. The drive beside Lake Pukaki to Mt Cook village is one of the most beautiful drives in New Zealand.
