Nicholas is the largest station on the lake. The 27,000 merino sheep produce some of the world's finest quality wool fibre, the majority of which is used in the production of the iconic “Icebreaker” range of high quality, natural fibre garments. Several hundred Red Deer, Fallow Deer, Chamois and Himalayan Tahr can also be found on the slopes of Mt. Nicholas, providing an extraordinary environment for the photographer or hunter. And with the Von River running across the station, this is a world famous trout fishing destination - rainbow and brown trout abundant in both the lake and rivers. The character of the lodge at Mt. Nicholas is an extension of the natural surroundings. Nestled in a secluded and private setting, the 80 year old lodge has been adapted from the property's original homestead, offering all the comforts of home with almost every window providing a spectacular view. The rolling lawns, large flagstone paved verandas and mature garden setting all add to the unique environment. As a guest you will enjoy a friendly, family like atmosphere and be served the very best of local produce, much of which is grown (or raised) on the station itself. The hearty breakfasts, gourmet lunches and traditional evening meals, as prepared by Adrienne in the large country style kitchen, will be sure to satisfy every appetite. Her expert knowledge of New Zealand wines will ensure the dining experience is complete.

Cancellation Policy: In the event of a cancellation within 30 days of the visit, we will make every endeavour to relet the accommodation to avoid forfeiture of the deposit. If however, this is not possible, then the 30% deposit becomes non refundable. If a cancellation occurs within 7 days of the visit, or for no shows, the full tariff will be charged. Full Travel Insurance which protects against unexpected changes to your travel plans, is recommended.
