Awana House has an exquisite balance between design excellence, comfort and flexibility. A large 2 bedroom, 2 reception room, 2 1/2 bath, cedar house with expansive wooden decks which catch the full day sun. Guests can gather in the evening and watch the sun set and the moon rise as they share stories of the day. A haven from the outside world. As a contribution to the conservation of wildlife on Great Barrier Island 10% of Awana House room charges are donated to the Awana Catchment Trust. This helps the work the Trust is undertaking to preserve the unique character of the Awana area through protecting the habitats that support several endangered species, and recording the human and cultural history in the area.

Facilities: Each bedroom and the large living room have wood burning fires, surrounded by local stone hearths and chimneys for intimate autumn and winter warmth. The house features very high ceilings, rimu and oak floors, and a large split level dining and sitting room. All the wooden interior furniture has been made by Peter Edmonds, using mature New Zealand timbers. Soft furnishings feature New Zealand wools and other fabrics. All beds have high count cotton-sheets, and anti-allergic pillows and mattresses. Paintings and artwork features Great Barrier and New Zealand's best talents. Awana House has beautiful coastal gardens, and the beach is just a five-minute walk.
