The Masters Lodge is a small luxury lodge positioned in a quiet cul-de-sac on Bluff Hill in the city of Napier with spectacular views over the blue Pacific Ocean. This historically distinctive residence was the home of tobacco Baron Gerhard Husheer, Director of the National Tobacco Company. The Masters Lodge was designed by famed architect Louis Hay in the early 1930s when he also designed Napier’s most famous Art Deco building – the National Tobacco Company Building – and features original Art Deco and Art Nouveau furnishings, servant bell system and extensive leadlighting throughout.

The Masters Lodge offers only two Guest Suites with private ensuites. Named ‘Kidnappers’ and ‘Deco’, each suite reflects a major Hawke’s Bay attraction and includes art deco furnishings. The Lodge also offers a living room and cocktail lounge, formal dining room, solarium, superbly stocked wine cellar, music room, shady verandahs, beautifully maintained flower gardens in park-like grounds, off-street parking, and much, much more! The Masters Lodge overlooks Cape Kidnappers, the Art Deco City of Napier, the Pacific Ocean and the Marine Parade.

Facilities: Damask cotton bed linens, goosedown duvets & pillows, walk-in wardrobes, extra towels & bathrobes, separate shower and original cast iron bathtub, “Seascape” toiletries, hair dryers, Sky-TV & video in the Solarium and in-suite on request, direct dial phones and modem ports.

Testimonals: The Masters Lodge

Hi Larry & Joanie. I really do want to thank you both for making the last couple of nights in NZ so very memorable. As you know we had been touring around and it was fun and interesting visiting all the different Lodges and boutique hotels I had tirelessly selected, but only one really stood out as the outstanding winner and you know, of course, it was you guys – we really wished we had at least another night at your wonderful place and to spend another evening in your fun company! Big kisses to you both!

Joan & Larry – What a special place you have created. It’s not just the magnificent furnishings and historic and beautiful home; it’s the warm, friendly, caring atmosphere that you’ve both created. You are like the family we wish we had in an exotic foreign location. In fact, that’s how you’ve made us feel…like family…so comfortable.
Helene & Jerry Spiegel – New York City (02/08)

Kay took great care for us from the planning process, checking the vacation process so that it would go smoothly and even juggling changes in unforeseen circumstances (which impressed me the most).
